Program Description

Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics: Students pursuing the Master of Science degree complete a core of courses in economic theory, quantitative methods, and a specialized applications course. M.S. students must select from one of the three following areas of study for further course work concentration. In addition to core course requirements, students choosing to concentrate on Agribusiness complete courses in marketing or international trade, Agribusiness research applications, and an Agribusiness internship. Electives are chosen from among marketing, management, finance, trade, or economics courses. Ph.D. Degree in Agricultural Economics. Students pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Agricultural economics at LSU complete courses in economic theory, quantitative methods, and agricultural economics (e.g., international trade, marketing, natural resources, policy, production, and development). Ph.D. students also earn a Minor in Economics as a part of their required program. Ph.D. students are encouraged to select from a number of areas of study for further academic specialization, including marketing, international trade, quantitative methods, and natural resources. Opportunities exist to offer Ph.D. students excellent teaching and research experiences in a stimulating academic environment.
