The Food Industry Center - Department of Applied Economics
Program Description
The Food Industry Center is a community of scholars that develop and disseminate knowledge and analysis about how food reaches consumers. The Center focuses on how food retailers (grocers, restaurants, and take-out) serve consumers and how they interact with various suppliers in the food distribution channel including food manufacturers and producers. The community of scholars includes\ faculty, students, and industry leaders from across the nation and around the world. The Center introduces creative thinking and visionary solutions to tomorrows challenges that arise out of new science, lifestyles, management relationships, and technology. The Center focuses on educational programs that will produce more knowledgeable and flexible workers for the industry and disseminates information about how this industry operates and serves the well being of people and the economy.
