IFAMA LOGO REDESIGN CONTEST


Purpose

To create a new visual identity for IFAMA that reflects our evolution as the premier global organization in food and agribusiness while maintaining our core values and heritage. The current logo is 35 years old and needs a refresh.


Brand Background

The International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) is a global network of corporate and academic leaders in the food and agribusiness sector dedicated to enabling the global agribusiness community to provide adequate and nutritious food to the world. The organization builds connections between academics, students, agribusiness, and other organizations to solve critical management issues that face the industry today and in the future.

Who can enter the contest?

  • Current students (undergraduate/graduate)
  • Early career professionals (within 5 years of graduation)
  • Must be an IFAMA member when submitting the logo

Accepted File Formats

  1. Vector: AI, EPS, or SVG
  2. Raster: PNG (transparent background), 600 pixels/inch

Required Size Variations

  1. Primary Logo: Full size
  2. Secondary Logo: Simplified version for small applications
  3. Icon: Social media profile version
  4. Favicon: 16x16 pixels

Required Color Versions 

  1. Multi color (no graduations or screens)
  2. Single color
  3. Black and white 
  4. Reverse (white on dark background)

What to include in email submissions

  1. Your name, school or organization, and country
  2. Each participant can submit up to three unique designs
  3. Logo Files: All required size and color variations, in acceptable formats.
  4. Naming convention: IFAMA_Size_Color_LastName.Format (IFAMA_Primary_SingleColor_Martinez.png)
  5. Design Rationale (300 words max) explaining how concept connects to IFAMA’s mission
  6. Font name and source
  7. Statement of original work (no AI, stock images, or plagiarized work) 
  8. Optional items to incorporate into the logo design:
  • Sample business card
  • Website header
  • Social media profile image

Submission Process

Email all items in one email to Mara Doane, IFAMA Branding and Communications (mara@ifama.org) no later than 15-May, 2025. Subject line: Logo Redesign Contest.

Incomplete submissions and submissions received after 15-May will not be considered.
 

Logo Design Best Practices

A. Keep It Simple
• 
A clean, uncluttered design ensures memorability and versatility.
• Avoid excessive details that may not scale well.

B. Use Meaningful Colors 
• 
Colors evoke emotions and convey brand personality. 
• Research color psychology to align with brand messaging.

C. Choose the Right Typography
• 
Custom or well-selected typefaces reinforce brand identity.
• Ensure readability at all sizes.

D. Make It Timeless
• Avoid trends that may become outdated quickly.
• Aim for a classic design with long-term appeal.

Intellectual Property

  • All submissions become property of IFAMA. IFAMA holds exclusive, perpetual rights to all submissions.
  • Winner must transfer all rights to IFAMA
  • Designer may include the logo in their portfolio.
  • Designer will be given credit in initial launch material.
  • Attribution will be given to designer.
  • IFAMA may refine the design to meet our standards.

    Scoring Criteria

    Judges will evaluate each entry according to the judging criteria. They will then award points to their top three choices:

    • 3-points to their highest-scoring entry
    • 2-points to their second-highest scoring entry
    • 1-point to their third-highest scoring entry

    All points from all judges will be added together. The entry with the highest total points wins.
