BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Yvonne Colomer-Xena is Executive Director of Fundación Triptolemos, a global pioneer in the integrated approach to food systems, bringing together 26 universities, companies, consumers, food banks and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Before leading the foundation in 2002, she built her career in several agrifood companies. She directed the first MBA programme in Spain specializing in agrifood business management for 17 editions at the University of Barcelona. She is a member of the Spanish chapter of the Club of Rome.She is an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya–BarcelonaTech (UPC) and Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair on Science and Innovation for Sustainable Development: Global Food Production and Food Safety. Her work promotes science-based collaboration to advance food systems in balance.

EDUCATION

She holds a PhD in Global Food Systems from the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine, Nancy, France, a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the University of Lleida, an MBA in International Agrifood Economics and Management from ESSEC Business School, France, and a Piano Teacher Qualification from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, Barcelona.

RESEARCH INTEREST

She specialises in global food systems in balance, sustainable agrifood value chains, agribusiness management, food policy and governance, food security, food branding, and innovation and technology transfer.
