YOU ARE INVITED TO NOMINATE IFAMA'S 2023 YOUNG PROFESSIONAL RISING STAR

  • IFAMA is currently accepting nominations for the 2023 Rising Star award. This award honors the exceptional contributions by young professionals to the food and agricultural sectors by improving the strategic focus, transparency, sustainability and responsiveness of the food and agribusiness system to ensure food security.

    Requirements:

      • Non-student member of IFAMA
      • Under 35 years of age
      • Working or actively participating in the food and agricultural sector (private sector, public sector, or academia)

    We rely on our IFAMA members to nominate and support candidates for consideration for this award. If you would like to nominate one of these exceptional young professionals in our industry, please feel free to complete the nomination form. The nomination form must be signed by a proposer (IFAMA member) and a seconder (IFAMA members) and must contain the signed acceptance of the nomination by the nominee (IFAMA young professional). Once completed the nomination form and any supporting documents should be sent to the IFAMA Young Board at iyb@ifama.org.

    31 May – Finalists announced

    17 – 20 June – Award ceremony during IFAMA World conference

    OUR 2022 IFAMA RISING STAR

    The Rising Star Award bestowed by the IFAMA Young Board for the first time in 2022, recognizes outstanding contributions of young professionals, under the age of 35.

    Alexis H. Villacis is an Assistant Professor in Morrison School of Agribusiness, W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, USA. He is a microeconomist studying the social welfare implications of agriculture, with a particular interest in food value chains, food security, and behavioral economics.

    Alexis earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech and a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and B.Sc. Agribusiness Management, Zamorano University in Honduras.

    Prior to joining ASU, he worked at the Department of Agriculture of Ecuador and at University Espíritu Santo UEES.

    Alexis is a native Ecuadorian. The focus of his research includes the impact of climate change on sustainability, food insecurity in developing countries and labor issues.
